  • 7:20 pm on 10/27, a firearm investigation was conducted on 77 Hancock Street based on information received about large groups occupying the parking lot. An arrest for possession of a firearm was made, and a bag containing a firearm, drugs, and drug paraphernalia was recovered from the laundromat.  
  • 11/4 – 8:45 pm officers responded to a radio call on Pleasant Street for an assault and battery. While walking on the sidewalk to enter her home a suspect tried to take her purse, and the individual fled.

Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services Update (5 min)

  • Amanda from Senator Nick Colin’s office dropped in to say hello, and added a link for members to view a summary of recent policy changes and news, viewable here
  • Hunter from Rep. Hunt’s office was on the call as well
  • The board discussed reaching out to new Boston City Councilor John FitzGerald to come to a meeting in the new year

Update on St. Mary’s Article 80 Process

  • JHA Planning & Dev Letter
  • The Planning & Dev committee met, reviewed the presentation, attached a letter (view here). The spirit of the letter is that we are in favor of the project, but there are some considerations we would like them to keep in mind, including that it is a large structure with a lot of parking. 
  • Note that there will be a future traffic study on traffic concerns in the area, including speeding on the hill, and the relocation of St. Mary’s entrance to Jerome from its current location on Windermere.

  • Greenspace & Friends of Downer Park (downerplayground@joneshill.com)
  • An update to the Downer Ave Dog Park – a contractor is starting on Friday to re-grade some of the park and address issues like constant muddiness and poor drainage. It should take no more than a week to complete.

  • Everett Ave food forest will have some news in the future. If anyone has cardboard boxes, they will take boxes and use for sheet mulching to control weeds, and improve their harvest for next year. Can drop off at Kit’s house at 14 Upham’s Ave, or at the site by the shed and the team will take it from there.
