Community Announcements
Spring Toddy Tumble Our Spring Toddy Tumble is scheduled for Friday, April 29 at 7pm. You can sign up to host some neighbors or tumble alongside them by clicking here! In lieu of donations, we’ll be raising funds to support the World Central Kitchen in support of their work serving children and families in Ukraine. More information will be provided closer to the tumble date. Egg Hunt at St. Mary’s Volunteer Opportunity Our neighbors at the St. Mary’s Center are hosting an Egg Hunt on Friday, April 15th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. If you’re interested in helping out that afternoon, please let Stephen know (president@joneshill.com). SPARK Boston Council Applications are open for the 2022-2023 SPARK Boston council. This civic engagement council is open to all Bostonians aged 20-35 and connects members with City Hall, their neighborhood, and each other over the course of the year. You can apply (or encourage anyone you may know) at bit.ly/ApplytoSPARK. Learn to Sew at the Uphams Corner Library Beginner Sewing Program Thursdays from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM. May 12, May 19, May 26. The phone number is 617.265.0139 and email is uphams@bpl.org. You can always view a list of upcoming events by clicking here. Affordable Connectivity Program To combat digital inequities surrounding internet and technology access, the City of Boston is working to sign up eligible residents for the FCC’s “Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).” The benefit is $30 a month toward your internet bill and a one-time up to $100 discount toward the purchase of a device. For more information and if you have any questions about the Affordable Connectivity Program, please check out the ACP website or contact Peter Favorito, the City of Boston’s Digital Equity and Inclusion Advocate, either by email at peter.favorito@boston.gov or by phone at 617-635-2743. Get Your Taxes Done Taxes are due on Tuesday, April 19 in Massachusetts, so make arrangements to get your taxes done in the next week! Mayor Michelle Wu announced that the Boston Tax Help Coalition (BTHC) has launched its twentieth tax season and is once again offering free tax preparation for residents who earn $60,000 per year or less. Visit BostonTaxHelp.org for more information. Get Your House History For a small fee, all of which goes to support the work of the Dorchester Historical Society, a volunteer will research any house in Dorchester or Mattapan and provide you with a detailed report about its history. The house doesn’t have to be old, or of any particular style. It doesn’t have to be your house – maybe it’s a house you grew up in or one that belonged to your grandparents (or just one you’ve always been curious about.) It doesn’t even have to be still standing. More information can be found by clicking here. |
