Flawed and Whole – One Woman Play at Adams Street Library (Wed – Sep 12 @ 6:15) Happening just before our monthly meeting, swing by the Adams Street Library to see Flawed and Whole. Dorchester People for Peace is producing this one-woman play addressing the issues of being white and anti-racist. Kristen Aldrich, a DPP member and Dorchester resident, wrote and acts in Flawed and Whole. It received broad accolades from those who saw it at the Providence Fringe Festival this summer which inspired DPP to bring it to Dorchester. There will be time for a discussion after the play. Back to School Tea at Uphams Corner Library (Thur – Sep 15 3-5 p.m.) It is back to school time and the Uphams Corner Branch Library is very happy to announce that we are able to hold our annual Back to School Tea. Please join us for tea and conversation about what the library can offer busy families as they plan for the new year. Along with food and drink we will have crafts and giveaways. The Radical Welcoming – A Celebration along Columbia Road (Sat – Sep 17 12-4 p.m.) A celebration bringing together local artists, entrepreneurs, businesses, and non-profit organizations in Upham’s Corner, the attached flier highlights what activities and events you’ll find along Columbia Road (the bulk of activities are between The Strand and former Citizens and Bank of America Buildings). Open Streets Dorchester Avenue (Sat – Sep 24) Explore a car-free Dot Ave from Freeport Street to Gallivan Blvd. Open Streets Boston is a collection of free, family-friendly events. During these events, the City will close major thoroughfares to motor traffic, opening them for pedestrian use. Open Streets Boston events help people experience streets as public spaces where communities thrive. City streets transform into vibrant, pedestrian-friendly boulevards where people can dream, play, and explore. You can find more information here. |
